Current CB: “You know, with all the gravel roads and living in a rural area, maybe a truck isn’t a bad idea.”
I’ve changed. Not for the better, not for the worse, but for the different. I keep looking at trucks. Help.

Any truck that isn't a brotruck is a good truck. Embrace the trucks.

I might add a lightbar if I was to get one, so semi-brotruck?
All hail our lord and saviour, brotruck.

I think a ZR2 with the factory light bar is awesome.
Also, it’s factory so I am thinking it's a firm not bro.

Nah, #wagonlyfe or die
yes, that’s a pitchfork in the ski rack
I’d been rallying this car to/from my parents’ place quite a bit over a very muddy road...

Factory bro-trucks can happen. But yes, a ZR2 would be sweet, but is far too expensive.

I’m not qualified to help you.
An extended cab 4x4 extended cab not-too-bigly pickup actually solves all my first world problems. So of course, I'm wondering how I can spend twice as much on a Land Cruiser.

I’m in a similar boat. I lifted my WRX because of desert trips and forest roads but now I want to get it back down to stock height and buy a cheap truck…

I still don’t want a truck certainly not as my daily driver, but the need part keeps getting bigger. I’ll hold out until we get that nice house out in the stix then I’ll get s beater F-250 with a plow.

Well the factory ones rub on the paint a lot - I had them on my last one. What it needs is the rallyArmor ones, which might look at little VapeBro for me, driving an old bmw wagon to preschool drop off every day. So... there we are.

I am thinking about a used ZR2 o nce Mrs. Blackcar’s MB is paid off.
I just know that if I try to haul something or whatever and it’s too small I will start hating it and be mad I didn’t bu y something bigger.

Why are used running trucks so expensive? Is it just because it’s the prairies?

Really, that’s garbage. When does it rub? Just when the truck flexes off-road or under normal driving ?
Also, t hat’s a good looking truck.

Find a RWD station wagon you like. Lift it. For bonus points...put in a diff lock. It's not like it hasn't been done before...

Just give in and get one. 96 month loans are readily available if you need to keep payments low.
Maintenance is sooooo much easier on a truck than a car. Need to do an oil change? Just slide under it, no need to use ramps or a lift or any of that crap, there’s plenty of room.
Hit something? Dent it somewhere?
Who cares! “It’s a truck, it’s meant to get beat up.
”
Have something smelly or dirty that you need to move? Throw it in the bed.
Has that special
lady (or man) in your life
put on a bit too much weight and they can no longer climb up into the cab of your truck? Just leave them, you still have 95 payments
to make
on your truck

I loved my old Nissan - my biggest beef is that new trucks are just so fancy and expensive. I would never feel good using it as a truck - and then all the fun is gone for me... Unless you are using it as your family vehicle, like a minivan with a short bed stuck on the back.

I really want a pickup truck but I can’t remotely justify it. All the rural driving and home improvement that I do can be justified with a Kia Niro

Expensive you say? I’ve got a Tacoma- it wrote the book on expensive..
Our truck does everything. c ommutes, c arries a ton of gear, pulls the trailer, easy to park, easy to drive.. the new 3.5 is only a few L/100km worse than the Forester.
Wait until I put bigger tires on though..

No flex at all that I notice , I left enough room between the cab to change the 3rd brake light bulbs.

There was an immaculate, white, 4x4, extended cab Ranger at a dealership around the corner from my house a couple weeks ago that I found myself strangely drawn to. I don't think it was on the lot for more than a couple of days before it sold.

I told myself sports cars and wagons are where it’s at, no reason to take a MPG penalty for a truck/SUV
Now I DD a GX470 for a family that consists of me and my wife, and 2 dogs. It seats 8. *shrug*

I drove Killer Queen through farmland out in the Moses Lake sticks. Went through a lot of unpaved road and over a rudimentary railroad crossing and she handled it just fine.
The mud from back then is still stuck to her. Trucks are overrated.

I mean, that’s what my heart says for a lot of reasons , and I’ve already dealt with most of my moving stuff, so the practicality of a truck is less needed, but my brain keeps going “if you put a cap on the bed, you can just take it off, and with it on you basically drive a giant wagon!”

Well... I sometimes make the same argument about my car
My heart says that I’ll never drive quickly, so I don’t need a V6, but my brain keeps going “If you use eco mode, it’s basically the same economy and you drive a giant Q ship!” Which is a total lie... I’m lucky to break into the high 14l/100km range, and my car has never gone faster than 150km/h... so much for that stupid gas guzzling v6!
Trust me, don’t trust your brain... we tend to exaggerate what we need from cars....
